### Australian Standard AS 2708-2001
Under AS 2708, typing competency is formally measured on a 5-minute passage. The standard word length is defined as 5 keystrokes. For APS Level 1 to 4 positions, candidates must achieve a minimum of 45 Net WPM with an accuracy rate of 98% or above.
💡 Pro Exam Advice for Candidates
Do not look at the keyboard during the test. Keep your fingers resting on the home row (ASDF JKL;). Maintain a consistent rhythm rather than bursting speed, as irregular rhythm leads to transposition errors that severely penalize Net WPM under official Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) scoring rules.
